Departing staff Honorary staff | Contents | Research governanceDr Megan Brooks has picked up from Brad Crammond, in undertaking the Research Governance Coordinator role for the School. She has joined SPHPM after a short stint as Ethics Coordinator at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. Prior to Peter Mac, Megan worked with Prof Graham Brown to establish the Centre for Clinical Research Excellence in Infectious Diseases at the University of Melbourne/ Royal Melbourne Hospital and managed the Centre for almost 5 years.Megan completed her PhD in virology in 2003 and prior to this worked with Prof Greg Tannock in influenza vaccine and drug development at the NATA-accredited Vaccine Evaluation Section at RMIT. Megan has lectured in basic virology and clinical research, taught animal cell culture at TAFE, tutored in microbiology and immunology and will be coordinating the MPH2083 subject "Good Research Practice". Appointed as Senior Research Fellow, Megan is the Research Governance Officer and is available to provide guidance to researchers on adhering to the legislation and guidelines governing research. Megan will also facilitate the auditing of projects to ensure compliance and to see where DEPM can improve support to researchers to allow them to meet their obligations. Megan is currently enrolled in a post-graduate law degree at Monash University. She will usually work Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Megan reports: The 3 July 09 Monash Research Office Bulletin contains an alert to recent changes made to the HREC application forms as well as a name change for the Standing Committee on Ethics in Research Involving Humans (SCERH). The Committee will now be known as the Monash University Human Research Ethics Committee (MUHREC). All researchers completing new applications to MUHREC are asked to download and use the latest forms (which is good prac-tice anyway!).
